Private 4- bedroom house with plenty of room to roam with river frontage...
This farmhouse provides a clean, spacious home in a quiet rural setting. It's perfect for a larger family that requires a little extra room. It has four bedrooms, three queen beds and two twin beds. It also has a sofa sleeper in the living room, a futon in the playroom and a trundle bed in the laundry room. The house has two full bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, play room, sun porch and laundry room. It's within twenty minutes or less of Wausau and Stevens Point, Granite Peak Ski Area, Nine Mile Recreation area, Central Wisconsin Convention Center, Central Wisconsin Airport, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, the Green Circle Trail, and just 2 miles from Lake DuBay.
The property offers private wooded hiking trails along the Little Eau Claire river, great birding opportunities. Early spring and fall offer kayaking, canoeing and fishing opportunities when water levels are higher. Winter offers trails for snow shoeing, cross country skiing (self groomed) and property connected to Portage County snow mobile trail system. Expect to see plenty of wildlife and summer evenings can be enjoyed from the sun porch watching hummingbirds at our feeders.
Although it's been nearly twenty years since the farm was used as a dairy farm, the barn, silo, and numerous outbuildings allow one to step back in time and imagine what life was once like on the farm. Today, acreage is used for traditional crop rotation and also a Christmas tree plantation supplying an onsite choose and cut retail farm. So, depending on the season, active farming, planting and harvesting may be witnessed. If bored, you might be asked to bale hay or shear a few hundred Christmas trees (ha ha).
Rates are based on occupancy of six people but can accommodate ten people. Additional $15.00 charge per night/per guest. Dogs are allowed, please see house rules for current charge ($18 per night/per dog) and restrictions. We do have internet service but our guests have found this is a perfect location to relax and disconnect for a while. We as owners welcome you and want your stay to be an enjoyable experience. Living adjacent (one quarter mile) to this property allows us to be easily accessible and a source for information regarding the area.
Country Mission Farm supports giving back to the local community and actively donates to charitable organizations through the business. Our most recent non-profit benefactors have been Special Sports/Special Olympics of Stevens Point and Evergreen Community Initiatives (ECI) of Portage County. ECI programs help feed the hungry, clothe the poor and provide a warming shelter for those in need. We encourage guests to let us know what other local organizations we should consider supporting in our community through our guest registry.
